What I will use

I am largely confined to my property, being a full-time carer. However, over my life I have steadily built up some exercise kit which will be sufficient for my needs. Ironically, you don’t need most of this kit. These days I enjoy trying to improvise with any articles or objects that come to hand. For example chinning off a branch of a tree, or shrugging a heavy wheel barrow of soil.

My Resources fall into three types:

  1. Footwear and Clothing and Accessories

  2. Measurement kit and apps

  3. Gym equipment

Footwear, Clothing, Accessories

My running shoes - an old pair of New Balance

My trail shoes: Inov8 - I’ve been using this brand for many years.

Clothing

For gym work I wear any old beaten-up loose-fitting clothing - nothing special. For running I have an Inov8 waterproof top and a Salomon running vest, as I like to carry water and a ‘phone. For cycling I wear cycling shorts and a cycling top.

Accessories

A weight belt, foam mats, resistance elastics, a wobble board for balance work and ankles,

Measurement kit and apps

Garmin Fenix 7 and Chest HRM

Blood Pressure Monitor

Apps

For weight training - Boostcamp - very simple and intuitive

For Logging - Strava, but it’s a shame that it is so poor at logging gym sessions, so I supplement it with writing markdown on Obsidian and importing the code onto my website.

For navigation - OS Maps

For my Garmin watch - Connect
